Which are your favorite Dr. Seuss books?
Three of mine are There’s a Wocket in my Pocket, One Fish, Two Fish (for beginner rhymers and readers) and The Butter Battle Book (for older readers because it deals with war and peace.)
I once said that I could probably teach a kid to read with One Fish, Two Fish, chalk and a chalkboard.
It is that time of year again. Read across America and Dr. Seuss’ birthday. All over America kids are reading Seuss, doing Seuss activities, and participating in general silliness that makes learning fun! Last year I gave a little history about Seuss and shared a little info about NEA’s Read Across America program, and asked which Seuss book was your favorite (I would still love to hear about that). We picked up a few new Seuss books this year. Every year Walmart offers Seuss books for $5 in celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, and I picked several up. Right now my favorite Dr. Seuss book is the one a grandchild wants to hear.

Those grandchildren are pretty powerful. Being Olivia’s Oma is one of my favorite jobs ever.
