Bloganuary Challenge #7: A short poem about rain

Welcome rain splashes
sloshes on arid streets and sidewalks
rushes and gurgles at gutters
drums on my roof.
For minutes or hours
I gratefully rejoice in
the soothing sensory symphony
until I hear alerts
of atmospheric rivers
of flash floods
of sandbags
of destruction
and remember Noah.

Too much of a good thing
is not a good thing.

Rain.
Sun.
Noise.
Quiet.
Work.
Play.
Tears.
Laughter.
Kale.
Chocolate.

And am

once again

grateful for balance.
