Is procrastination all that bad?

Depends on the task.

If it’s a mundane task, there’s always a chance someone else will do it. No clean clothes or dishes? The law of natural consequences will step in without you lifting a finger.

Furthermore, if you are a planful type, what looks like procrastination, may actually be THINKING about what needs to be done so you can do it more efficiently. You can tell yourself that anyway.

However, if it’s writing the great American novel, running a marathon, or seeing the doctor about that weird mole, you’d better just get moving before you run out of somedays. You never know when you’ll run out of time.

Another job that is often put off is going through your collection of junk—ahem, “valuable artifacts.” Taking care of that task is a kindness to those you leave behind and shouldn’t be put off too long. Here’s some gentle advice from two previous posts.
