I’ve been sorting through and scanning decades of old photos. We will celebrate our 50th anniversary later this year and I plan to make a photo book to mark the occasion. Good plan, right?
The good part of the process has been watching our now-grown daughters and half-grown granddaughter grow up before my eyes again. The bad part (or perhaps it’s just the funniest part) is seeing my hairstyle choices over years. Perhaps there were a few good choices over those fifty years, but they are far outnumbered by the questionable ones. Seriously, what was I thinking?
And then there’s the matter of my weight, which fluctuated by fifty pounds (or more) in that time, but that’s a post for another day. Stay tuned.
The thing I find most comical looking back at old photos was my choice of clothing, or better described, lack of fashion sense. What a dork! Still, like you, I prefer to laugh.
Congratulations on nearing your 50th anniversary. My wife and I have a mere 36 in the books.

Yes, I made a few of those questionable fashion choices too. But I believe the ability to laugh at oneself is a key survival skill.

Oh, year, we’ve all done it. I try to look at photos of myself and ask, What would I think if it weren’t me?
Oddly enough, it makes me far more tolerant.

Good advice. We shoud all try to be as kind to ourselves as we would be to others.
Have a good day!
